KIMEKOMI Fabric Art Class with artist Jenni Barry (28-August-2026)

Fabric artist Jenni Barry will be visiting Colville on August 28th and 29th to offer two workshops on the traditional Japanese art of Kimekomi.

Kimekomi means to tuck into a groove. In this art form, each carefully chosen piece of fabric is meticulously tucked into a foam-core base. The end result is a completely one-of-a-kind piece of art that feels like a warm hug. Every handmade treasure is a stunning conversation starter, and colorful eye candy for any room. One work of art warms your heart, beautifies your home and has the potential to simultaneously celebrate your loved ones.

These workshops are perfect for the people who love fabric but are daunted by sewing. This is a NO-SEW technique!

These Workshops will cover the basics of 2-D Kimekomi:

We will begin by drawing a design on foam-core. 

Think of stained-glass designs or quilting designs as inspiration.

We cover basic cutting techniques for the foam, then cutting and tucking techniques for the fabric.

• All tools, Foam-core, and fabric are provided.
• Students are encouraged to bring their favorite fabrics to use. Please, NO SATIN!
• Attempt Kimekomi at your own risk (we use knives and scissors).

The cost for each workshop is $70 plus tax.

Classes are limited to 12 participants.
